Synopsis:
This is the story of Jaylah, and how she came to the planet Altamid taking shelter in the remains of the USS Franklin, as seen in the movie Star Trek Beyond. Jaylah, along with her mother, father, and older sister, were traders. After Jaylah's mother died, their ship was destroyed by the same weapon that was later used on the Enterprise, forcing them to crash on Altamid, where they were captured by Krall. Keelah and the father were killed, but Jaylah escaped and took refuge in the wreckage of the Franklin.

The story is told in reverse chronological order, starting with Jaylah locating the USS Franklin, with each subsequent sequence taking place prior to the previous one. The exception is the final scene, which shows Jaylah at Starfleet Academy after the events of Star Trek Beyond.
No regular Star Trek crew members appear in this story.
