Script revision from Al Feldstein to Harry Harrison ?, penciler revision from Wally Wood to Harrison, and letter credit by Craig Delich.

Script and penciler revisions courtesy of Bill Mason as found in "Spawn of Mars" hardcover by Fantagraphics.

Much of the story is told in a series of dreams (flashbacks).

It's easy to see that the Gill Baines (reverse the first initials) is Bill Gaines and Bill Kurtz is actually Harvey Kurtzman in this story.

The Last War on Earth

Story  on  Interior Page(s)
Subject Matter
science fiction
Professor Harlow; Arthur; Katey Mulrooney (referred to but not shown); Pat Flanagan; Mike Flanagan; Tom Flanagan
... Yes, Professor Harlow, the first war probably started when one cave man beat in another cave man's head for stealing his wife!
Professor Harlow explains to his assistant, Arthur, his theory of how wars begin and how they escalate. Utilizing his theory to bring about an end to war on Earth, he fakes an attack on Earth from Mars by destroying the town of Middleburg with an atom bomb, killing 300 people. Claiming the rocket came from Mars, he convinces the United Nations to retaliate with hundreds of super rockets. With all countries united against a common enemy, all wars on Earth come to an end. The attack on Mars is successful, until Mars sends its own "rain of rocket bombs."
