Notes:
According to memoirs in this book, from 1931 until her 1949 death in an airline crash James Reid Parker wrote nearly all he captions to Miss Hokinson's drawings. Before that captions were usually written by editors and staff at The New Yorker. Most drawings are signed "Helen E. Hokinson," with some variants such as "H. E. Hokinson."
