Tod Morgan; Cap'n Dick; Harvey
Tod Morgan stirs up both the cavalry and the nearby peaceful Indian tribe by telling of hostile attacks by the other. Both sides know that he is a liar and a troublemaker and ignore him. The one time he is telling the truth is when he rides up to the fort with word of a Comanche attack. But the Comanches are only after his hide, and after killing him, ride away causing no more trouble.

Fargo
The thud of hoofbeats...
Fargo and his gang rustle a herd of cattle and run them into Horseshoe Canyon. When a posse rides in, the gang pretend they have no knowledge of any rustling, and ask the sheriff where the cattle might be. Following a hunch, the sheriff spends a long time pouring over the ledgers at the Government Survey Office, and learns of a disused gold mine running through the mountain. When Fargo's gang run the cattle through to the other side they find the sheriff and his posse waiting for them.
