First Line: Mary Prichard waited anxiously for her flight to be called. It was the first time that she had been away from home.
Synopsis: Mary's uncle invites her to join him on his yacht at Gibraltar when he learns that she has been ill. Upon arriving, she accompanies him on his yacht to Tangier where he is planning to pick up supplies to explore for sunken ruins in the Mediterranean. But as soon as they arrive in Tangier, he is handed a note and leaves to take care of some business. Later that evening, a police captain arrives at the yacht and informs her that her uncle has been attacked and is dead.
