Dan Northrop; Prince Duleepsha; Miller; Jamison
On a plantation in Northern Malaya a diary is found. The servant who discovered it takes it to Dan Northrop, the plantation's owner. Over dinner that evening Northrop tells two Australian army officers of the diary and the story it contains. Years earlier during the Japanese invasion of Malore Prince Duleepsha lay on his deathbed, and just before he died he was told that the Malore diamonds will not fall into the hands of the Japanese. Two men, Jamison and Miller, are tasked with hiding the diamonds. It is Jamison's diary they've found.
