Script:
1. Original indexer stated: Harvey Kurtzman
2. Andy stated: Jack Davis
This is supported in the letters page of the actual issue, Tales of Terror EC Companion, the Cochran EC Library, and "Death Stand and Other Stories" volume.
This was Davis' first script that he wrote according to "Dearth Stand and Other Stories". Kurtzman was too busy writing for EC's new title, MAD.
The sheriff in this story looks exactly like Gary Cooper from the 1951 film, "High Noon", and has the same name as in the film. The villain is also named after the movie's outlaw, Miller.
