The silence.
Guernsey hates Benson and vows that when they get back to Earth, he will be held accountable. Why? Because he got drunk and accidentally pulled a lever that killed the whole crew when they were outside the ship working. When a meteor strikes the ship, Guernsey goes outside to check for damage. Benson locks Guernsey out leaving him to die. Guernsey's rotting corpse is stuck just outside the window almost tauntingly. Benson can't stand it and goes outside to remove the body, but Guernseys corpse accidentally takes the door mechanism with him leaving Benson trapped outside the ship doomed to die.
