When Mr. Weatherbee asks the P.T.A. board to petition for an increase in teachers' salaries, Mr. Lodge says that the schools need to be run more like a business. Mr. Weatherbee challenges Mr. Lodge to run the school for a day. Mr. Lodge accepts, much to his regret.

Mr. Lodge's first name is this story is John. The title "Come Ona My House, My Housea C'mon" comes from "Come On-a My House," (the proper spelling), a number-one hit song by Rosemary Clooney in 1951. The phrase is used several times in the story.
