Osprey Publishing has been publishing since 1968 and continues to this day. It was originally owned by Berkshire Printing, part of Brooke Bond, the tea company. In the second half of the 1970s Osprey was acquired by the George Philip Group, the map and atlas specialists. Reed Elsevier purchased George Philip Group in 1988. In 1998, Osprey became an independent company, leaving Reed International. Osprey Publishing Inc. was created as a subsidiary and began trading in North America in 2005. In 2007 Osprey acquired the history, heritage and collectables publisher Shire.   Does this data need corrections? Become an editor.
