When Magneto Strikes!

Magneto is testing his powers in the city. He "attracts" Thor's attention. They battle aboard Magneto's submarine. Meanwhile, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants are out looking for the X-Men. Magneto flees from Thor in his escape vessel and the X-Men's submarine is seen pursuing him. Thor turns back to Don Blake and visits Jane Foster. She makes him a snack and gives him a glass of milk.

Doctor Martin Peters (the famous explorer); Andy Vane (weapons inventor); Major (Dalmatian dog); Juan Garcia (Chief of Police); Dr. Zinn (evil scientist)
Doctor Martin Peters and Andy Vane discover the Lost temple of Zentaca. They are attacked in turn by an oozing plant-like creature and some armed, costumed men. Doctor Zinn learns of Martin and Andy's presence and captures them. They are incarcerated within the temple. Doctor Zinn laughs and then exits, leaving them to be destroyed by the oozing plant-like creature. Major, the dog, finds them and helps them escape. Andy zaps the Responder Unit, the source of the plant's power, with his weapon, and then blasts an escape route through the wall, destroying the temple in the process.

Professor X detects a new mutant and sends the X-Men to investigate. They arrive at a carnival and encounter the Blob, a very fat sideshow attraction who can bounce bullets off of his malleable hide as well as anchor himself to the earth and become immovable. The X-Men bring him back to the mansion as a potential member but the Blob spurns their invitation and returns to the carnival. Realizing that the Blob knows their secret, the X-Men lure him back to the mansion where Xavier wipes his memory.

Professor Cole has invented a magic torch (flashlight) which breathes life into inanimate objects. Kurt Wagner tries to steal it for his boss, Steiger, and kills the professor. Tom Cole is captured by Wagner and his henchmen. He uses the Torch on a giant statue (Colossus) and brings it to life. Colossus vows to serve Tom and assists him in bringing down Wagner and Steiger. In the final showdown, Tom uses the torch on the villains in a reverse setting. They are turned to stone and exhibited, along with the Colossus, in an unspecified London gallery. Tom throws the torch into the ocean.

Kurt Wagner in this story is completely unrelated to the Kurt Wagner character in Marvel's X-Men series. The Colossus in this story is not Marvel's "It! The Living Colossus". The story is printed in two colors, black and red.

Bobby Masters, an amateur radio-ham, established contact with the Arctryons, an alien race intent on conquering the earth. The aliens boasted about their might and how easily they would establish rule. Bobby thought he was the victim of a hoax so he provided them with landing co-ordinates and waited. Ultimately the Arctryons turned out to be microscopic in size and they all perished when their ship plunged into a small pond.
