The Crisis hits Earth-2 as Harbinger recruits Firebrand, as shown in Crisis on Infinite Earths #1. The JSA is shanghaied into space by Gootsden's rockets, but Harbinger's efforts to return to the Monitor's satellite sends them all off course to different dimensional versions of Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mercury, and Mars. The Freedom Fighters go to Earth-X as Uncle Sam tells them he needs them there to win World War II, lest all be lost. While battling Nazi scientists, Commander Steel is accidentally sent to Earth-1, where he builds a new life for himself.

Crisis Cross-over. Story also partially based on All-Star Comics (DC, 1940 series) #13 story "Shanghaied Into Space." Story continues in next issue.

Story in two parts: Chapter I (Justice Society of America): "Shanghaied Into Hyperspace!" (10 pages), Chapter II: "Worlds in Collision" (28 pages), both adapted from All-Star Comics (DC, 1940 series) #13.

Explains reason behind Freedom Fighters appearance on Earth-X in Justice League of America (DC, 1960 series) #107 and #108, as well as how Commander Steel ended up on Earth-1 as seen in Infinity Inc. (DC, 1984 series) #19 and Justice League of America (DC, 1960 series) #244. Also references All-Star Squadron (DC, 1981 Series) #13, 31-38, 48-49, and Crisis on Infinite Earths #1.

A moving truck is labeled "Mayer Moving," probably to honor Sheldon Mayer.
